China bubonic plague: precautions

China has increased precautions in Bayannur, a city in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, after one confirmed case of bubonic plague.

It is not clear they might have become infected.

Another suspected case involves a 15-year-old, apparently getting it from a marmot hunted by a dog.

It has been given a level 3 alert, which forbids hunting and eating animals that could carry the plague. The public have been asked to report suspected cases.

Liverpool vs Aston Villa – Football Match Report – July 5 2020

Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-0 at their first game back at Anfield after becoming Premier League champions.

Sadio Mane and Curtis Jones both found the net for Liverpool in the latter stages of the second half to secure the win.

Liverpool have failed to find their form since winning the title and the first half passed without either side putting together any dangerous chances.

After Thursday’s 4-0 demolition at the hands of Manchester City (one of the heaviest defeats by a Premier League champion) Liverpool recovered in time to put relegation-threatened Aston Villa to the sword.

Nick Cordero, Broadway actor, is dead at 41

After a battle with the coronavirus since March, Broadway actor Nick Cordero died on Sunday at the Cedars-Sinai hospital from severe medical complications including mini-strokes, blood clots, sepsis infections, a tracheostomy and a temporary pacemaker implant. He had spent weeks in intensive care.

His wife, Amanda Kloots, posted on Instagram “God has another angel in heaven now. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband.”

At full time Burnley 1 – Sheffield United 1 from Turf Moor.

United dominated the first half but Burnley took the lead just before half time thanks to a sliding goal by Tarkowski.

In the second half John Egan’s adroit half-volley gave Sheffield United a deserved point.

Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo win with new world records at Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest

Joey Chestnut managed 75 weiners and buns in 10 minutes to take the title for the 13th time. While Miki Sudo ate 48.5 hot dogs. It was her seventh time. Both managed to set world records in the process.

For the first time the Coney Island tradition allowed betting this year. The coronavirus crisis meant some changes. Spectators weren’t allowed to watch in person.
